Sony gets a handle on the LCD market

15 Jan 2008 17:18

Plasma TV Sony is set release a new range of LCD TVs which will be fitted with a carry handle, according to reghardware.co.uk.

The website states that the manufacturer will add to its popular Bravia series of LCD TVs with a 20-inch, 23-inch and 26-inch range fitted with what the company is calling a "convenient handgrip" on the rear of the panel.

Although it is claimed this will make the screen easier to move around, it is noted that so far none of the promotional images actually show the handle. The site also questions whether or not this feature is, in fact, a major selling point.

"It's questionable just how useful a carry handle is, but then if you're the type of person that can't go one month without rearranging your living room then it could be perfect," it states.

The models come with two HDMI sockets - with the exception of the 20-inch screen which has just one - and each comes with a built in digital tuner.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Sony would be dropping its investment in rear projection televisions in favour of LCD TV sales.
