Sony returns triumphantly to TV

13 Mar 2008 11:19

Is Sony back on top form? Sony's latest 46-inch Bravia LCD harks back to the manufacturer's legendary cathode ray models, one reviewer has suggested.

In an article for e-gear.com, Marshal Rosenthal recalls the first colour TV he purchased - a Sony Trinitron - and suggests with the KDL-46V3000 the company is back at the top of the home cinema tree.

He states that as well as an "attractive" black high gloss finish and stylish good looks, the panel offers full 1080p high definition (HD), double HDMI inputs as well as component, S-Video and PC compatibility.

Also highlighted is the manufacturer's XrossMediaBar menu system which Mr Rosenthal states is designed using the same easy-to-navigate format as Sony's video game consoles and that this is just one thing that sets this LCD panel apart from its rivals.

"LCD displays have been edging up to plasma, and this Bravia doesn't need to apologize for its performance to anyone. Looks like Sony's back," he concludes.

The Sony website adds that as well as full HD, the KDL-46V3000 also features ten-bit processing, the Live Colour Creation System and an Advanced Contrast Enhancer Function.
