Super slim LCD TVs from Sharp

16 Aug 2007 13:00

The D64U line: Slim LCD Televisions from Sharp A series of LCD TVs which features sets that are "bigger and smaller at the same time" has been announced by Sharp.

The swish new Aquos high-definition tellies included in the D64U line are 25 per cent thinner than previous Aquos models and approximately 20 per cent lighter but they have bigger LCD panels.

Sharp is claiming that these are the thinnest flat-panel televisions to be introduced to the market. These sets will be launched in the US in September and will come in four sizes; 42-, 46-, 52- and 65-inches.

According to the electronics firm, its 42-inch D64U will be able to sit comfortably in a space normally taken up by a 40-inch flat-panel TV.

In a statement, Sharp's Bob Scaglione said: "The AQUOS LCD TV line has always set the standard in technology and picture quality. Today (Tuesday) we set a new standard in design.

"With its graceful, space-saving design and full-HD resolution, Sharp's Aquos D64U series provides the ultimate home entertainment experience with the perfect balance of style and performance."

Pricing of the line is yet to be announced.
