Buy High-Definition TV Are you one of those poor folk who are utterly lost when it comes to new technology?

Do you spend hours desperately searching for the ultimate piece of home entertainment equipment but never quite get what you want? Looking for a high-definition TV but no clue what you are actually looking for? Yes, you certainly look the sort.

Well, fear not, because according to one US newspaper, there are things that you can look out for when making a purchase to ensure you come away with the best item.

Carlos Milante of the San Jose Spartan Daily asserts that one of the most important things to consider when buying an HDTV is that they come in four main varieties; direct-view, the classic, bulky-style sets, flat-panel, with either LCD or plasma screens, rear-projection and front-projection.

Then, make sure you are aware that the resolution of an HDTV refers to the screen resolution size. Milante notes that "the two main resolutions in HDTVs right now are 1080i and 720p" and that "both formats look great".

He also recommends that you choose and HDTV with numerous high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) connections. These provide top notch sound and picture quality all in one cable, meaning great viewing and less clutter round the back of the telly.

"With these tips you should be more than ready to purchase your first HDTV set, and trust me, once you experience HDTV there's no going back to standard television," concludes Milante.
