Sales of HDTV make Pace Micro the biggest electronics company in the UK When hunting for a new piece of electronic equipment, it is always interesting to find out who the biggest and best providers in the country are.

If you are one of those folk hunting around for, say, a new telly, then you may well be interested by the fact that a certain British company has done so well in the US that it is now number one in the UK.

According to the Independent, Pace Micro is once again the largest consumer electronics company in the UK after demand for its high-definition televisions in the US recently soared and dramatically increased it profits.

Pointing out that a flat-panel television is sold once every 30 seconds in the UK, Pace Micro's chief executive Neil Gaydon told the paper that this success in the States is a good indication how well the company will do in the European market, adding: "We have shown that UK technology can compete on a global stage."

Moreover, he suggested that it is likely that his firm will continue to grow as the demand for swish new TVs and second generation DVD players increases.

As well as HDTVs, Pace Micro also makes set-top boxes for companies such as Sky and Virgin Media.
