Wooo! Ultra-slim TVs from Hitachi

25 Oct 2007 15:27

Will you be plonking a new flat-screen in your lounge? Well, as if things in the world of flat-screen televisions couldn't get any better, it seems that a clever lot of people at one of those electronics giants have done it again and come up with a super-slim model that will be sure to tickle your technological taste buds.

Yes, mangotango fans, it's time to set your faces to pleasantly surprised because Hitachi is set to release a series of super-thin televisions which promise to be the thinnest LCDs on the market.

The Wooo UT series of LCD tellies are all just 3.5 centimetres thick - less than half the thickness of the slimmest such TVs currently available. The first set to be available will be a 32-incher in December, followed next year by a 37- and a 42-inch set.

Bill Whalen, of Hitachi America, commented: "Hitachi understands that when selecting an ultra-thin display, consumers want a very modern, thin profile and a lightweight unit but they do not want to trade off any of the features or performance of a top-of-the-line HDTV.

"The ultra-thin displays from Hitachi pack style and performance into a sleek, compact form factor that makes absolutely no compromises when it comes to innovative technologies, groundbreaking features, theatre-quality image optimization, state-of-the-art electronics and wall-shaking sound."
