Smallest high-definition television by Xceive Corporation While the majority of the new televisions that are making their way onto the consumer market are getting bigger and bigger, you may find it interesting to hear that one company has been concentrating its efforts on producing a really small TV instead.

Xceive Corporation announced yesterday (June 5th) that it will be showcasing the smallest high definition television in the world at the Computex tradeshow in Taipei this week.

Using its 'Breckenridge' reference design, the firm has created the set which has a seven-inch HDTV screen and main board dimensions which are approximately 2.75 by 4.75 inches.

Moreover, this little telly also features Xceive's XC5000 chip, the most highly integrated silicon TV tuner in the world, which allows for a number of channels to be received with good quality reception using a small antenna.

Neil Mitchell, vice president of marketing for the company said: "Xceive and this System-on-a-Chip partner are enabling a new class of television products not seen in the industry prior to our technologies being employed together.

Robert Lin, general manager of MStar China, added: "The small form factor of this seven-inch high definition television clearly presents huge challenges both in size and performance from inexpensive antenni.

"The XC5000 chip from Xceive solves both problems by providing an incredibly small seven millimetre by seven millimetre form factor that provides performance improvements that compensate for the weaker, smaller antenni."
