08 Aug 2007 11:01

Microsoft Xbox 360 price reduced Everybody likes a bargain. Except maybe those eccentric billionaires who blow their noses on £100 notes, but you get the idea.

As such, most of you - particularly anyone with a passion for gaming - will be intrigued to hear that as of today (Wednesday) the Xbox 360 has been made a little cheaper in the US.

Yes, after weeks of speculation, Microsoft has announced that the price of the console is to be reduced by $50 (£25) to $349.99 (£175) in North America. And what's more, the price drop is to be swiftly followed by the release of a new Xbox 360 game.

Madden NFL 08, due to hit the shops across the pond on August 14th, is part of the Madden NFL Football series, which according to Microsoft is "one of the most important mass-appeal franchises in video games".

Commenting on the Xbox 360 price reduction, the company's Mitch Koch said: "The fact that we have been able to keep our launch price longer than any other console while retaining our leadership position demonstrates that consumers believe in the value of Xbox 360.

"On the eve of the best holiday games line-up ever and the launch of Madden NFL 08, there has never been a better time to jump into Xbox 360."
