Cut price of PS3 says SCi

28 Sep 2007 12:22

Sony to drop the price of the PlayStation 3 We all know that getting hold of a top-notch piece of technology doesn't come cheap these days and as much as we can appreciate that quality comes at a price, it's always a bonus when we can save a few pennies here and there.

And it seems that it's not just good old consumers, such as you lovely mangotangoers, who are fans of lower prices.

SCi Entertainment, maker of popular video game Lara Croft, has voiced its concerns over the current recommended retail price of Sony's Playstation 3 and asked the firm to cut it.

The company makes a considerable amount of games for the platform and after reporting losses of around £10 million it wants to see the price of the PS3 dropped so that more people will buy it, thus increasing sales of SCi's PS3 titles.

SCi said: "The board is of the opinion that the key driver to the acceleration of the installed base of PS3 will be a further hardware price cut.

"Until such time that such a price move is announced by Sony, the board believes it is prudent to increase our provision to £13.8 million."

Hmm, intriguing stuff. We will, as ever, keep you posted!
